The R/V Gisang is a 498-ton oceanographic research vessel operated by the Korean Meteorological Administration since 2011. It collects three-dimensional weather observations over the ocean and is used for marine meteorology, ocean physics, and air quality research. The R/V Gisang operates more than 160 days each year, mainly around the Yellow Sea, the South Sea, and Korea's coastal areas. It is 64 meters long and can reach speeds of about 16 knots.
